Start with product and operating requirements
Shelf depth, level spacing, upright structure, base size, display load, hooks, baskets, and sign holders should follow the product category and replenishment routine. High-frequency retail also needs practical cleaning access, edge protection, customer reach, and enough adjustability for changing assortments.
Coordinate gondola bays, end caps, and promotion units
Single-sided wall bays, double-sided gondolas, end caps, checkout displays, baskets, and promotional islands often share a store. A consistent bay width, shelf system, color, trim, and sign structure simplifies expansion and helps purchasing teams control replacement components across locations.
Prepare shelving for transport and store assembly
Shelves, uprights, bases, brackets, back panels, hooks, and signs should be separated and coded clearly. Stacking protection, pallet support, carton weight, hardware packs, and loading sequence matter because dense metal shelving can become difficult to handle even when the total shipment volume is efficient.
